Coventry NHS Work Experience Programmes
What is work experience?
Work experience programmes offer school and college students and others the opportunity to gain an insight into the world of work in the NHS. Work Experience programmes are structured to provide you with as wide an experience as possible, and could include shadowing clinical and support staff and taking part in a range of tasks.
What work experience is currently on offer?
University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire and Coventry Primary Care Trust offer work experience programmes to people from 14 years of age. We run one- and two-week programmes for Coventry and Rugby schools, timetabled throughout the year, as well as Insight and Young Apprentice programmes for BTEC students.
In addition to this, we can also provide Work Experience programmes tailored to your individual needs. For example, we can offer ‘taster’ days or longer programmes which could extend over several weeks or even a whole term. These placements are subject to availability.
Please be aware that we can only provide work experience programmes to students from Coventry and Rugby schools, or to people whose permanent address is in the Coventry and Rugby area. If you live in South Warwickshire, or are looking for work experience in Mental Health, please email us.

- SODA (Surgery on Day of Admission)
- GP surgeries and Health Centres
- Day Surgery Unit
- Endoscopy
